As a rough guide, I've found a 1.5 Mb file downloads in about 40 seconds on a T1 line and 5 minutes on a 56k modem.

This site is best viewed using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, at this this time using anything else makes it looks complete 'pants'.

Greetings People and welcome to the MP3 download area. I will try to keep updating this area bi-monthly, so make sure you come back and check the groovy sounds of the weird and obscure. To download an MP3, simply right click on the red track names in the following text and then save to your hard disk.  Left clicking will attempt to load the file for playing across the web. Not a good idea unless you are on something like a T1 line!

This week I've been digging through my archives of Midlands bands and come up with the following gems, some of which have now been re-released by UGLY.

The Fanatics - 1, 2, 3, 4 (1.1 Mb), My Brother Sarah (1.01Mb), Suburban Love songs (1.09Mb), Tight Rope (1.08Mb). The entire Suburban Love Song 12" EP on Chapter 22 Records (12 CHAP 38), this was their one and only single release before they turned into Ocean Colour Scene. If you're interested in other OCS obscurities also check out the 'Music' section of this website.

The Ju-Ju-Men - I was born in a graveyard (1.1 Mb). This is the first ever track the Ju-Ju-Men EVER recorded. Taped on a 4 track in someones bedroom! Until recently it was thought these tapes had been lost forever! But then someone moved some empty beer cans & there they were... Enjoy this little piece of history from the early 1980's! Now available on the 'Lose your Laundry' Ju-Ju-Men compilation. Also from this compilation : Hot Tomatoe (1.45Mb).

Serious Rhyme Squad - Chimp (1.3 Mb). Great songs, great melodies, great live act, great shame they never got picked up. One of the tracks from the un-released 'Football' EP.

Michael Valentine West - One Inch Tuesday (2.1 Mb). This is a brand new track! In fact MVW has an entire albums worth of stunning new material. Unfortunately the test pressing of the CD I have got damaged travelling back to UGLY Island and I'm waiting for the new one to be jetted over. This is the only track that survived and you will actually hear some damage in the closing few seconds of the track. Check out the Music section of this website for more information on the man. Also from his Best of 'Gospel Lane' : Me and Judy Garland (1.51Mb).

One Trick Pony - Wind up Radio (1.6Mb). New song from this new Birmingham band.

Infinity Incorporated - Mr. Turtle (2.15Mb). From the Curse of UGLY LP.

Surf Drums - Stone and Silver (1.53Mb).

Inner City Unit - Virgin Love (1.15Mb). Nick Turner from Hawkwind's band, with great guitar solo from Captain Sensible.

Unknown Artist - Dads Army (801Kb). Drum and Bass version of the Dads Army TV theme tune. Bonkers!

David Surette - Coast to Coast (4.82Mb). Nice acoustic guitar track in DADGAD from this seldom heard guitar God.
